The SEND Project is a community arts organisation based in Sneinton, Nottingham, providing workshops, courses and bespoke projects to young people and vulnerable adults across the East Midlands via outreach work, or through projects run from our modern studio facility at the Greenway Centre.
SEND was established in 2005, and has grown organically through adopting a local, community- based focus. Many of the staff and volunteer team live in the area and this creates a warm, positive environment for collective and individual development.
To the SEND team:
SEND engages young people and vulnerable adults in creative experiences, inspiring them to raise their aspirations, overcome barriers and realise their potential. We are the change we want to see. Check out our work.
The arts provide an ideal means to achieve this as, with skilled programme design, the fun and creativity involved can provide a route into learning and progression, particularly for those who have lacked confidence or motivation in other learning settings.
SEND Project started organically with local people volunteering to address local issues that they were passionate about. Since then SEND Project has worked with over 100 volunteers and many of the current staff team were once volunteers themselves.
SEND Project truly is a voluntary community organisation in the widest sense; through listening, supporting and ultimately empowering our volunteers we continue to achieve amazing results.
Creativity takes courage.
Bach tells you what it's like to be the universe.
When the ideas are coming, I don't stop until the ideas stop.
Find something you really love doing and mix it with something you really care about
Inspiration does exist but it must find you working
I am here to live out loud
A great work of art is made out of a combination of obedience and liberty
Without music, life would be a mistake
When I sing, trouble can sit right on my shoulder and I don't even notice
Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.
